Happy Kids Happy You is a unique approach, giving parents practical Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) -based methods to enable them to develop their own solutions, rather than giving prescriptive advice.

Every child, every family situation, is different and parenting is a journey of constant change. There is no ‘right answer’, only what works for you and your family.

This book gives parents methods they can own - a toolkit of methods flexible enough to cover all situations. It helps parents to:

  • get great results with their children
  • get their family life running more smoothly
  • feel more confident and positive so that they have fun and enjoy being a parent more of the time!

It focuses equally on the needs of the parent as well as the child: happy kids, happy you. It makes a profound and beneficial impact on family life which works for the parents as well as the children.

Reviews

  1. I was delighted to see Sue's techniques and tips in print. Sue has provided training workshops for our service, both for a mum's support group and for volunteers working with children. Sue gives us tools and techniques to help with the myriad sticky situations of parenting ” to help us keep our cool when tempers get hot, to communicate effectively with our children and, most of all, enjoy those precious years. I have tried out a number of Sue's methods with my grandchild AND they do work!
  2. As a father of five children, I loved Happy Kids Happy You. I just wished I'd had Sue's guidance when I began my journey as a parent but hey it's never too late to learn. As an NLP practitioner, I recognised Sue's advice as good NLP practice and she has a wonderfully accessible way of putting the message across. Not only did I pick up great tips on relating to children, I also found myself thinking how much I could apply with adults too. Sue's key lessons are delivered in inspirational bite-sized chunks and I just love all the mini case studies she has gleaned from other parents. This has got to be essential reading for every mum and dad. In fact I reckon there should be a copy provided by the state for every birth registered. It would make the world a much better place. Thank you Sue.
  3. As a working mum with 4 children under eleven I SO need this book ! Sue makes it all extremely relatable and gives really positive practical suggestions for dealing with 'spirited' children in all kinds of situations from the frustrations of getting ready to go out to really challenging behaviour. I've tried some of her strategies and already I'm noticing the difference. A really useful inspirational guide.
  4. In my opinion, raising our children is the most joyful, demanding and valuable thing we will ever do and as parents we can never get enough reassurance that we are on the right tracks in our parenting as well as some practical advice on how to do this better. By suggesting positive, lateral ways of managing confrontation with our children, this book offers positive and alternative approaches that have a real ring of truth and humour, challenging with a light touch.
“Happy Kids Happy You” provides wise, sensible, often amusing insights into managing not just our children but ourselves. Through simple, attainable exercises, helpful illustrations that are often painfully funny and numerous examples of positive ways to deal with our children and our “own stuff”, Sue Beever has come up trumps with this excellent resource for anyone serious about not just their children's well-being but also their own emotional health.
  5. Happy kids Happy you is a fascinating book in which Sue takes the complex workings of children and steers the reader gently through the minefield of managing their behaviour!

A cross between a workshop manual and advice from your favourite agony aunt, Sue manages to balance gentle nurturing and coaxing with a serious dose of “beware and defuse”

Anyone who is responsible for the emotional development and welfare of young children should buy this book!

It is easy as adults for us to hide behind the belief that “the adult is always right”

Using tried and tested NLP techniques Sue challenges you to think about your interactions with young children and how it feels to be on the receiving end of your, language, feelings, behaviour and attitude.

This common sense practical guide helps you to re-think and re programme how you speak to, behave and interact with little ones ensuring a better outcome for you both.
  6. Happy Kids Happy You by Sue Beever is a great gift to the world. Sue's book offers ideas and tools on many levels for assisting in the hardest job that most of us do in life, raise children. This book will produce more happiness in the family through helping us be better guides, mentors and sponsors of our children's growth.
