Capturing The Teenage Brain Conference 2018 takes place tomorrow!
Thursday, 8 February 2018
The theme for the inaugural conference is œCapturing the teenage brain. This conference aims to:

  • inspire, stimulate and empower current and future leaders of education to develop a greater understanding of educational and neuroscience thinking on adolescence;

  • highlight and celebrate examples of effective and innovative practice in schooling and educating teenagers;

  • enable networking and opportunities for collaboration both at and following the conference;

  • provide practical advice and ideas for delegates to take away from the conference.

The day features Professor Guy Claxton and Dr Andrew Curran as the keynote speakers. Guy is a cognitive scientist specialising in the expandability of mental powers and the founder of Building Learning Power, a global influence on education which pioneered practical methods of education combining high levels of achievement with the development of useful, general habits of mind. Andrew is a practicing paediatric neurologist at Alder Hey Children™s Hospital in Liverpool and makes the complicated workings of the brain understandable. They will be joined by Sarah Kendrick, Head of Service at children™s mental health charity Place2Be. Since completing her therapy training with an MA in Psychotherapy in 1998, Sarah has developed, led and delivered therapeutic services to children and young people in care and youth offending settings, family assessment, children™s centres and in schools, and has worked for PLace2Be for 16 years.
